It's fun to explore the World Wide Web!
Here are some great websites that can help your child learn.
This is a very exciting app which helps children revise and learn their letters and letter sounds. While the app version of this cost money, the computer version is free! It's a wonderfully fun and modern site. As you learn your sounds, you can dress and customise your monster!
Maths lends itself well to real and practical every day activities. However, if you do find yourself online Starfall.com is a great way to revise!
We have fantastic news! A member of our class has won a prize!
Callie has practised art for years. Last year she decided to enter a completion called "The Zurich Young Portrait Prize". She painted a picture of her teacher at the time, Sarah C. On Tuesday night she found out that she had won within her category.
Her painting is hanging in the National Gallery of Ireland in the Millennium Wing. It is free to visit so why not go to see it!
This is an incredible achievement and we are incredibly proud of her hard work. Well done Callie.
te have been learning a poem every morning. We know actions to the words. It's about a secret den! Dens are special places where children can play alone or with a friend. They can be in a tent, up a tree, under a blanket... In fact they can be made almost anywhere!
We drew our dream dens! Ask us about them!
Why not say the poem with us?
A den for all seasons
I have a dark and secret den,
Hidden high in a leafy tree,
Where it's safe and warm and cosy,
And there's only just room for me.
In spring I like to sit and stare,
At bird's nests and blossom flowers,
While rich new leaves give me shelter,
From the sudden April showers.
In autumn I just lie and dream,
Relaxed from my head to my toes,
The winds fan my hair and rock me,
While the dead leaves tickle my nose.
In summer I wear camouflage,
Shadowed cow prints of black and white,
Painted by leaves that fan and cool,
As they let in the sun's bright light.
In winter I'm wisely grounded,
A secret den is not for me,
When snow falls on icy branches,
It's then that I go home for tea!
Welcome to first class! We have had a lovely start to the school year. The children have been making new friends and getting used to our new routines. We all worked together to create our classroom rules.
Look at the beautiful art we created! We used masking tape to make our name. We mixed paints and painted over the whole page. When we peeled it off, it made a very special effect!
We had a great day on Sports Day! We had an indoor Sports Day this year because of the weather but we still had great fun! There were lots of activities. We did relay races, parachute games, an obstacle course, yoga and penalty shoot-outs. Check out the photos below!
This week, we have been learning about all the different ways to make 10 in Maths. We have been using our cubes and our whiteboards to write the sums. Here are some photos of us doing our work!
We have created some lovely artwork in Senior Infants! Check out the photos below.
