In January, he children did lots of work around the theme Space and completed some group work about the planets in our solar system. Here is a little snapshot of their work.
The children in Sarah’s class have been experimenting with some new construction resources during Aistear play time. The Mobilo set allows children to make and design their own little vehicles to play with. The Jaggo blocks are large wooden blocks that children can use to build large structures, building, racetracks etc…
In April our class took a trip to visit the Mosque. It was a great learning experience for the children and also lots of fun!
This month the children have been exploring their play using the vet as a theme. The pupils have been using their imaginations and really exploring their social skills and language use with this theme. Here are some photos!
The junk construction play was introduced this month also, and the children have been building planes, trains and bridges with the boxes and some tape. Some budding engineers in the class really enjoy this kind of play.
Our class also put together a whole class project to support the campaign for a second level Educate Together School in the local area. The theme was "We have come from many different places and have many different cultures that make us different and bring us together." The pupils completed one square each, drawing their favourite thing about their family and/or the country they are from. Well done everyone!
Throughout October we were focusing on the number 6 in Maths. The children did some pair work based on "The Story of 6" and all the different ways you can make six using 6 sticks, and then they wrote down their number sentences. We have added this to our Maths Wall in the classroom.
Last month, my Senior Infants learned "The Cup Song". Here is a video of them keeping the beat with cups or by table tapping, and singing along! Well done to all the super performers!
Here are some more lovely photos of pupils in my class reading together, working together, playing together and learning together!
I am excited to announce that our playtime theme for October is "The Vet".
If you have any animal soft toys at home that you don't mind us borrowing for the month, please feel free to send them in. Also if you have any doctor/vet related toys that you are happy for us to borrow, we would be delighted to have them for the month.
If anyone has a pet at home, please ask your child to assist you to feed the animal, take care of it in whatever ways are suitable, and discuss the importance of visiting the vet for a check up and discuss any previous reasons your pet may have needed to visit a vet.
If any parents/family members are interested in coming in for a visit with their pet (if appropriate) or just coming to talk to the pupils about their pet, that would be wonderful. Please send an email to Nicola in the office firstname.lastname@example.org with your interest and your phone number and I will give you a call to organise this!
The first full week back in school has been very positive. The boys and girls in Senior Infants 2 play very well together, work well, have a lovely enthusiastic attitude to learning and are a very pleasant class to teach! Here are a few photos of some of their work, and some of our Aistear playtime areas this week!
Please note that I will take photos of different children each week and make sure they all get the opportunity to have featured work on the blog in rotation.
